Muscle Augmentation (Muscle Implants) In Miami, FL

Enhance Definition, Elevate Your Physique

Introduction to Muscle Augmentation

A balanced physique often comes down to proportion. Even with consistent training, many men and women find that one muscle group, such as the chest, shoulders, arms, or calves, lags behind the rest because of genetics or a past injury.

At Miami Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Dr. Pat Pazmiño, MD, FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs muscle augmentation to add size and shape to underdeveloped muscle groups. A significant share of his patients are men, and he tailors every plan to create proportions that look strong, athletic, and natural.

Muscle Augmentation-intro

What Is Muscle Augmentation?

Muscle augmentation is a group of cosmetic procedures that enhance the size and contour of specific muscles. Depending on the area and your anatomy, it may involve solid silicone implants, intramuscular fat grafting, or a combination of the two.

Pectoral implants can add fullness to the chest, calf implants can build lower-leg shape, and biceps, triceps, or deltoid fat grafting can enhance the arms and shoulders. These implants are made of soft, solid silicone that can’t leak or rupture, and they are placed through small, discreet incisions.

Dr. Pazmiño’s Approach to Muscle Augmentation: Implants, Fat Grafting, or Both

Every patient’s goals and muscle shape are different, so Dr. Pazmiño tailors each muscle augmentation plan to you. He uses two techniques, alone or together:

  • Solid silicone implants: For the chest (pectoral implants), the calves (calf implants), and the buttocks (gluteal implants)
  • Intramuscular fat grafting: For other muscles, such as the shoulders, biceps, triceps, and back. Your own fat is placed within the muscle fibers to add natural-looking size and definition. We never perform fat grafting inside the gluteal (buttock) muscles, and we always place fat added to the buttocks above the muscle, following current safety standards.

Dr. Pazmiño places every implant and every fat graft under real-time ultrasound guidance, so he can see exactly where each implant sits and where every drop of fat goes. Implant placement and incisions vary by area:

  • Pectoral implants: Placed beneath the chest muscle through a 1-inch incision hidden in the armpit
  • Gluteal implants: Placed inside the gluteus maximus muscle through a 1.5-inch incision hidden in the crease between the buttocks
  • Calf implants: Placed either above or beneath the calf muscle, depending on your anatomy and goals, through a 1-inch incision hidden in the crease at the back of the knee
  • Fat grafting: Placed within the muscle fibers through tiny 2 mm openings tucked into natural skin creases and folds, so your results look natural and all your own

Who Are the Best Candidates for Muscle Augmentation?

You may be a good candidate for muscle augmentation if you:

  • Have a muscle group that remains small or asymmetrical despite consistent training
  • Have noticeable differences between sides from genetics or an old injury
  • Are at a stable, healthy weight and maintain a regular fitness routine
  • Are in good overall health and do not smoke, or are willing to quit before surgery
  • Can take a temporary break from training the treated area
  • Have realistic expectations about size, feel, and recovery

Dr. Pazmiño will evaluate your muscle development, skin, and body fat to determine whether implants, fat grafting, or a combination will give you the most natural result.

What Are the Benefits of Muscle Augmentation?

Muscle augmentation adds shape where training alone hasn’t delivered. Key benefits include:

  • Added size and contour in muscles that don’t respond to exercise
  • Improved symmetry between the left and right sides
  • Better balance between your upper and lower body
  • Options for the chest, shoulders, arms, and calves
  • Immediate, predictable volume when implants are used
  • Correction of differences caused by genetics or a past injury
  • Greater confidence in fitted shirts, shorts, and swimwear

How to Begin Your Muscle Augmentation Journey

Your muscle augmentation journey begins with a private consultation with Dr. Pazmiño at our Brickell office in Miami, FL. During your visit, he will:

  • Discuss the muscle groups you want to enhance and the look you have in mind
  • Measure and examine your muscle size, symmetry, and soft tissue coverage
  • Explain the differences between implants and fat grafting for your goals
  • Use picture morphing to help you visualize your potential results
  • Review the procedure, recovery, and how long you’ll need to pause training

If you had muscle implants elsewhere and are unhappy with their position or appearance, Dr. Pazmiño also performs revision surgery. Out-of-town patients can work with our team to coordinate travel and recovery plans.

6 Steps to Prepare for My Muscle Augmentation with Dr. Pazmiño

Thoughtful preparation supports healing and helps protect your results. Dr. Pazmiño will give you personalized instructions, which usually include these steps:

  1. Stop smoking and using nicotine products several weeks before surgery, as nicotine slows healing.
  2. Complete any lab work or medical clearance Dr. Pazmiño requests.
  3. Stop anabolic steroids, performance supplements, and blood-thinning medications, as directed.
  4. Avoid alcohol in the week before your procedure.
  5. Plan your training schedule so that you can rest the treated muscles for several weeks.
  6. Arrange a ride home and help with daily tasks during the first few days.

5 Tips for Recovery From Muscle Augmentation

  1. Wear your compression garment or dressing exactly as directed.
  2. Keep your incisions clean and dry, and follow all wound-care instructions.
  3. Take short walks to support circulation, and keep calves elevated when resting if you had calf augmentation.
  4. Avoid lifting, stretching, or training the treated muscles until Dr. Pazmiño clears you.
  5. Attend all follow-up appointments so that our team can monitor your healing.

What to Expect on the Day of Muscle Augmentation Surgery

Dr. Pazmiño performs muscle augmentation under general anesthesia so that you stay comfortable throughout your procedure. Your surgery generally follows these steps:

  • Marking: Dr. Pazmiño marks the muscle borders and incision sites while you stand and flex.
  • Incision: He makes a small incision in a discreet location, such as the armpit for pectoral implants or the crease behind the knee for calf implants.
  • Pocket creation: He creates a precise space for each implant in the planned layer.
  • Implant placement: He positions each implant, or grafts fat if that is part of your plan, to follow your natural muscle shape.
  • Symmetry check: He compares both sides carefully and adjusts as needed.
  • Closure: He closes the incisions with fine sutures and applies a compression garment or dressing. Small drains may be used after pectoral and gluteal implants, while calf implants and fat grafting need no drains.

Every muscle augmentation procedure is an outpatient surgery for your safety and comfort, even when combined with liposuction or other procedures. You go home or back to your hotel the same day, but never alone. Every patient goes home with a private nurse who stays for the first 24 hours to keep you comfortable, help with your care, and make the transition to recovering at home smooth and reassuring.

Combining My Muscle Augmentation with Other Procedures

Many men combine muscle augmentation with body-contouring procedures for a complete athletic transformation. Dr. Pazmiño will recommend only the combinations that are safe and appropriate for you.

Intramuscular fat grafting uses your own fat to add natural volume. It can soften implant edges or enhance a second muscle group during the same surgery.

Muscle Augmentation Recovery

Your Guide to Post-Muscle Augmentation Care

Muscle augmentation recovery requires patience, because the treated muscles need time to heal around their new shape. Our team will guide you through every stage:

  • First week: Expect soreness, swelling, and tightness, especially when you move the treated muscles. Prescribed medication helps keep you comfortable.
  • Weeks 2 to 3: Discomfort eases, and most patients return to desk work and light walking.
  • Weeks 4 to 6: You can gradually increase activity while avoiding direct training of the treated muscles.
  • Weeks 6 to 8: With Dr. Pazmiño’s approval, most patients return to full workouts.
  • In the following months: Swelling fades, and the muscles settle around the implants, giving you a more natural look and feel.
