What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, commonly called a nose job, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose’s bone and cartilage. It can reduce a dorsal hump, narrow a wide bridge or nostrils, refine or lift the nasal tip, straighten a crooked nose, and improve the balance between your nose and your other features.
Surgeons perform rhinoplasty through either a closed approach, with all incisions hidden inside the nostrils, or an open approach, which adds a tiny incision across the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils) for greater visibility of the nasal structures. When a deviated septum affects breathing, the procedure may be combined with a septoplasty, known as a septorhinoplasty.
Dr. Pazmiño has extensive experience with rhinoplasty. He performs open and closed rhinoplasty, functional septorhinoplasty to improve breathing, ethnic rhinoplasty, and revision rhinoplasty. When your nose needs added support or shape, he uses cartilage grafts from inside the nose, behind the ear, or the rib.
He has extensive experience harvesting rib cartilage, which provides strong, long-lasting support. Much of that experience comes from ear reconstruction for patients born with microtia, which uses cartilage from several ribs, so he knows this technique and this anatomy exceptionally well. For you, that means deep experience and durable structural support for your nose.
