What Is Renuvion® Skin Tightening?

Renuvion® is a skin-tightening technology from Apyx Medical that combines helium plasma with radiofrequency energy. Some patients still search for it as J-Plasma, the name of Apyx Medical’s earlier helium plasma technology. Renuvion® is FDA-cleared for use after liposuction, to improve the appearance of loose skin on the neck and chin, and to contract subcutaneous soft tissue.

During Renuvion® skin tightening, a thin wand is inserted just under the skin through a small entry point. The wand delivers controlled heat to the deeper, collagen-rich layers where loose skin begins, causing the tissue to contract right away and stimulating new collagen over time. The result is a smoother, firmer appearance that continues to improve for months.

What to Expect on the Day of Your Renuvion® Treatment

Depending on the areas treated and whether we combine Renuvion® with liposuction, Dr. Pazmiño performs the procedure under local anesthesia with regional nerve blocks and Pro-Nox or under general anesthesia. Renuvion® typically takes 10 to 15 minutes per treatment area, so treating one or two areas can be a quick 30-minute procedure; when combined with liposuction and covering several areas, the surgery takes longer. Your Renuvion® treatment generally follows these steps:

Marking: Dr. Pazmiño marks the areas to be treated while you stand or sit upright.

Entry points: We make small entry points in discreet locations.

Your Guide to Post-Renuvion Skin Tightening Care

Renuvion® recovery can range from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your treatment plan and anesthesia. A typical recovery looks like this:

First week: Expect swelling, soreness, and tightness. Wear your compression garment and take short walks to support circulation. Most patients return to work after 4 to 5 days.
Weeks 2 to 3: Swelling begins to ease, and you can return to more of your usual activities.
