Lip Flip In Miami, FL

A Subtle Flip, A Beautiful Smile

Introduction to the Lip Flip

If your upper lip seems to disappear when you smile, or you show more gum than you’d like, you may want a little more lip without an overdone look. A lip flip offers a subtle, natural-looking enhancement in a visit that takes just minutes.

At Miami Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Miami, FL, Dr. Pat Pazmiño, MD, FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon, personally performs every lip flip. He tailors each lip flip to your smile so the change looks refined, not obvious.

Lip Flip-intro

What Is a Lip Flip?

A lip flip is a non-surgical treatment in which we inject a few tiny doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic or another wrinkle relaxer into the muscle around the upper lip. As that muscle relaxes, the upper lip rolls slightly outward, revealing more of the pink part of your lip, especially when you smile.

A traditional lip flip does not add volume; it changes how your existing lip sits. Using a wrinkle relaxer in the lip is considered off-label, so an experienced injector who understands mouth anatomy should perform it.

Dr. Pazmiño’s Lip Flip: More Than a Traditional Lip Flip

Dr. Pazmiño personally performs every lip flip, and his technique combines two treatments for a more complete result.

Together, they create fuller, more defined lips that still look natural.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Xeomin®, or Dysport® gently relaxes the muscle around the mouth so the upper lip rolls slightly outward and looks fuller.

Who Are the Best Candidates for a Lip Flip?

You may be a good candidate for a lip flip if you:

  • Have an upper lip that rolls inward or seems to disappear when you smile
  • Show more gum than you’d like when you smile
  • Want a subtle, natural-looking lip enhancement
  • Are an adult in good overall health
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are comfortable with temporary results that need repeat treatments

A lip flip may not be ideal if you play a wind instrument or rely on precise lip control for work, since your lip may feel slightly weaker for a short time. If your lips are very thin or your upper lip is long, lip fillers or a surgical lip lift may be a better option.

What Are the Benefits of a Lip Flip?

A lip flip is one of the simplest ways to enhance your lips. Benefits include:

  • More visible upper lip, especially when you smile
  • A subtle, natural-looking change, with just enough filler for support and shape
  • Less gum showing when you smile for some patients
  • A quick treatment that takes only minutes
  • No downtime
  • A low-commitment way to enhance your lips with temporary treatments

How to Begin Your Lip Flip Journey

Your lip flip journey begins with a private consultation at our Brickell office in Miami, FL. During your visit, our team will:

  • Ask what you would like to change about your lips and smile
  • Watch how your upper lip moves when you talk and smile
  • Review your medical history and any previous lip treatments
  • Explain whether a lip flip, lip fillers, or a combination best fits your goals
  • Describe how your lip may feel during the first few days and how long results last

If you already receive BOTOX® Cosmetic in other areas, we can often add a lip flip to the same visit. Out-of-town patients can work with our team to coordinate travel and recovery plans.

Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler: What Is the Difference?

A lip flip and lip filler are often confused, but they work in different ways. Many patients choose one, and some combine both for a balanced result.

Relaxes the muscle around the upper lip so more of your lip shows; on its own, it adds no volume, which is why Dr. Pazmiño’s lip flip also includes dermal filler; results typically last about two to three months.

What to Expect on the Day of Your Lip Flip Treatment

A lip flip is one of our quickest injectable treatments. Your appointment generally follows these steps:

  • Preparation: We cleanse the skin around your mouth and remove any lip products.
  • Comfort: We may apply ice or a topical numbing cream to the area.
  • Marking: Dr. Pazmiño identifies a few precise points along the border of your upper lip.
  • Injections: Dr. Pazmiño places a very small amount of wrinkle relaxer at each point using a fine needle, then adds dermal filler to support and shape your lips.
  • Aftercare review: We explain what to avoid for the rest of the day and when to expect your lip flip results.

The injections themselves typically take only a few minutes, and you can return to your normal routine right away.

Combining My Lip Flip with Other Treatments

A lip flip pairs easily with other treatments that enhance the lips and face. We will recommend only the combinations that make sense for you.

Lip fillers add volume to both lips, while a lip flip increases how much of the upper lip shows. Together, they create fuller, more balanced lips.

Your Guide to Post-Lip Flip Care

There is no downtime after a lip flip, but your lip needs a little time to adjust:

  • First 24 hours: Avoid rubbing or pressing on your lips, strenuous exercise, and lying flat for several hours after treatment.
  • Days 2 to 5: You may notice your upper lip beginning to turn outward. Drinking through a straw, whistling, or pronouncing certain sounds may feel slightly different.
  • Weeks 1 to 2: Your full lip flip result appears, and any awkwardness with lip movement usually improves.
  • In the following months: The muscle gradually regains movement, and your lip returns to its original position unless you repeat the treatment.

How Much Does a Lip Flip Cost in Miami, FL?

The cost of a lip flip in Miami, FL, depends on the number of units needed and whether you combine it with other injectables during the same visit. Because a lip flip uses a small dose, it is typically one of the more affordable lip treatments.

After your consultation, we will provide a personalized quote. We also offer financing options, including CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit.
