What Is an Upper Eyelid Lift?
An upper eyelid lift, or upper blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin from the upper eyelids. Depending on your anatomy, Dr. Pazmiño may also tighten loose muscle and remove or reposition small pockets of fat that create puffiness near the inner corner of the eye.
Dr. Pazmiño places the incision within the natural crease of your upper eyelid, so the scar is very discreet once healed. Because upper blepharoplasty treats only the upper lids, it is a separate procedure from a lower eyelid lift, which addresses under-eye bags; many patients choose one, and some combine both.
Dr. Pazmiño tailors each upper eyelid lift to what you need. Some patients need only excess skin removed. Others benefit from removing skin along with a thin strip of muscle, so the lid looks smooth and well contoured. When there is a large pocket of excess fat, he removes it. When the excess is moderate, he repositions the fat to smooth bulges, correct asymmetry, and fill deficient areas. He also often uses micro fat grafting to restore volume to eyes that look hollow.
Dr. Pazmiño corrects eyelid ptosis (drooping eyelids) and, for advanced cases, works alongside oculoplastic surgeons.
