What Is Chin Augmentation?
Chin augmentation, also called mentoplasty, is a facial plastic surgery that increases the chin’s size or projection. The most common approach uses a chin implant: a solid, biocompatible implant shaped to fit over the chin bone and add forward and sometimes downward projection.
A chin implant is typically placed through a small incision inside the mouth, then secured over the bone. Because the implant is shaped and sized for your face, chin augmentation can create a stronger, more defined profile while still looking natural for both women and men.
Dr. Pazmiño offers three ways to enhance the chin: a solid silicone chin implant, fat grafting with your own fat, and chin augmentation with dense dermal fillers such as Juvéderm Voluma® and Restylane® Defyne. For a chin implant, he typically makes the incision inside the mouth, so there is no visible scar, just a strong, beautifully defined contour.
