What Is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift is a facial plastic surgery that shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip. The most common version is the subnasal lip lift, also called a bullhorn lip lift because the removed strip of skin is shaped like a bull’s horns. The incision follows the natural crease beneath the nose, so it heals discreetly.
By removing a precise strip of skin and lifting the upper lip, a lip lift rolls more of the red part of the lip (the vermilion) outward. The result is a fuller-looking upper lip, better lip shape, and often a little more tooth show when your mouth is relaxed, all without adding volume.
Dr. Pazmiño customizes every lip lift to your anatomy and goals. He offers the subnasal (bullhorn) lip lift and the corner lip lift. With a lip lift, less is often more, so he removes only the skin needed to create the effect you want. The amount can differ from one point to the next, and even between your left and right sides, to account for small natural asymmetries.
