What Is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation, also called augmentation mammaplasty or a “boob job,” is a cosmetic surgery that uses breast implants to increase breast size, improve shape, and correct asymmetry. Implants come in saline or silicone gel; round or anatomic (teardrop) profiles; smooth surfaces (Dr. Pazmiño uses only smooth implants); and a wide range of sizes so that we can tailor the result to your proportions.
Dr. Pazmiño positions the implant either above the chest muscle (subglandular) or partially beneath it (subpectoral). Placement under the muscle may lower the risk of capsular contracture and interfere less with mammograms, though it can cause more soreness in the first few days.
